1 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 cups blue cornmeal
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups milk
1/4 cup sugar
2 eggs, lightly beaten
6 tablespoons shortening or oil
4 teaspoons ground red chile
Sift together flour, blue cornmeal, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
Combine milk, eggs, shortening, and ground chile. Add to flour mixture, blending thoroughly.
Pour mixture into a greased baking pan and bake in a preheated 350° oven for 30 minutes. Serve cut in wedges.
